Dance styles

“Dance styles, also known as dance genres, are different types of dance that can be categorized by their choreography, movements, or place of origin.” Quote found on the Internet  When I was a student, I studied numerous dance styles. Some of them include African dance and ballet. Years later, I have experience in dance instruction for Afrobeats and Samba Fusions.  “African dance (also Afro dance, Afrodance and Afro-dance) refers to the various dance styles of sub-Saharan Africa. These dances are closely connected with the traditional rhythms and music traditions of the region.” “Afrobeats, the name was partially born out of an attempt to distinguish Fela Kuti's music from the soul music of American artists such as James Brown. Prevalent in his and Lagbaja's music are native Nigerian harmonies and rhythms, taking contrasting elements and combining, modernizing, and improvising upon them.” “Samba, the vibrant music of Brazil, is a fusion of musical influences ranging fro...

Nature Wonders

“Dancing is like dreaming with your feet!” — Constanze Mozart   On January 1, 2024, I created this abstract painting entitled: Nature Wonders. “A natural wonder must be a clearly defined natural site or natural monument that was not created or significantly altered by humans. Each of the original seven natural wonders is in existence today and they all provide visitors with amazement and wonder.”For example, how dancing in nature inspires many people and a willow tree's beckoning sway and the trickling motion of a stream can inspire our body's capacity to move. These entities are also sentient presences ready to share a relationship with us.” “Nature of dance, the movement of the body in a rhythmic way. Usually to music and within a given space, for the purpose of expressing an idea or emotion, releasing energy or simply taking delight in the movement itself.” “ Dancers experience body and place in a profoundly different way to non-dancers. Through their training and practice...
