Possessing a deep knowledge of cultural competence, I excel in building meaningful relationships with individuals from varied backgrounds. I advocate for cultural heritage preservation and actively engage in promoting the significance of dance as a storytelling medium that reflects the values, beliefs, and histories of different communities. Recognizing the importance of respect and authenticity in performing diverse dance forms, From 2010 - 2016,I provided exceptional dance instruction to students of all ages and skill levels and have developed a deep understanding of the impact of diverse cultural influences in dance.

My passion for cultivating cultural awareness through dance has driven me to work with various organizations and institutions such as Malcolm X Park DC Drum and Dance Circle, Greenbelt Rhythm and Drum Festival, Greenbelt Green Man Festival, Dance Institute of Washington (DIW), Joy of Motion Dance Center, M.O.M.I.E.S. TLC’s Summer camp, YoungWomen’s Drumming Empowerment (YWDEP) Summer Camp, Kingdom Kids Care Summer Camp, and Roda Movements.

Where I have offered dance instruction in african dance and provided substitute dance instruction in Afrobeats and Samba Fusions.My dynamic routines have not only led to measurable improvements in student engagement but have also helped cultivate a greater understanding and appreciation for diverse cultures.

My proudest accomplishments include partnering with schools like Roots PCS (2016) and H.D. Cooke Elementary (2011 - 2016) where I have served as a career day presenter and shared my passion for dance with eager students. It is through these experiences that I have been able to inspire the next generation of dancers and instill in them a sense of pride and cultural awareness.

While I have not offered dance instruction since 2016, I am now seeking opportunities to promote dance classes and workshops. Memory of African Culture - Baba Djimo

When Baba Djimo created Memory of African Culture, " a cultural arts and education organization based in Washington, D.C. since 1983", I was 7 years old and a student at NationHouse. "Baba Djimo Kouyate, a jali, oral historian and 149th generation of the Kouyate family of jali, historians and musicians, died in Washington, DC, on August 1. He was 57. An outstanding musician and singer as well as a warm and generous individual, Kouyate introduced many people to the regal beauty of the music and histories maintained by the jalis of west Africa. Since moving to Washington, DC, in 1983, he co-founded and directed Memory of African Culture, Inc., a cultural arts and education organization. Kouyate led Mamaya African Jazz ensemble and served as an Adjunct Lecturer of African Music and Ethnomusicology at the University of Maryland.
