Abstract Paintings with the theme of music and dance

As a professional dance consultant, I have created many abstract paintings with the theme of music and dance. For many years, many of my abstract paintings were inspired by my dance activities since I was a student at NationHouse. Some of them include Dancing Fire #1 and #2, Rhythms of Life and Harmonic Rhythms #1 & 2.

Harmonic Rhythms are based on the coherent flow that is achieved through brushstroke, color, composition and technique. Without harmonic rhythms in art, there is no balance. I used three different colors to produce this painting, a light red, dark red and white. Those three colors combined created Harmonic Rhythms, an abstract painting created on canvas.

Vibrant hues of red, yellow, and orange blend seamlessly with darker tones, creating a vivid and dynamic composition. The central area is illuminated, giving the impression of light bursting through clouds.

A vibrant explosion of colors featuring blends of red, blue, and pink with hints of green and yellow emits a cosmic or nebula-like atmosphere. The interplay of colors creates a sense of depth and movement, evoking an abstract and dynamic feeling.

Memory of African Culture - Baba Djimo

When Baba Djimo created Memory of African Culture, " a cultural arts and education organization based in Washington, D.C. since 1983", I was 7 years old and a student at NationHouse. "Baba Djimo Kouyate, a jali, oral historian and 149th generation of the Kouyate family of jali, historians and musicians, died in Washington, DC, on August 1. He was 57. An outstanding musician and singer as well as a warm and generous individual, Kouyate introduced many people to the regal beauty of the music and histories maintained by the jalis of west Africa. Since moving to Washington, DC, in 1983, he co-founded and directed Memory of African Culture, Inc., a cultural arts and education organization. Kouyate led Mamaya African Jazz ensemble and served as an Adjunct Lecturer of African Music and Ethnomusicology at the University of Maryland.
